Retail or wholesale: begin with your actual need
The right way to buy dried fish depends on how much you need, how often you buy and how you plan to use it. A household buyer may need a small pack for cooking, while a restaurant, grocery shop or reseller may need a larger and more regular supply.
Retail and wholesale prices should not be compared without checking the fish type, size, grade, net weight, packaging, quantity and current market conditions.
When retail buying is suitable
Retail buying is usually convenient for household customers, first-time buyers or anyone who wants a limited quantity. It also allows a buyer to compare small, medium and large selections before making a larger order.
- Confirm the exact fish type and size.
- Check the net weight of each pack.
- Ask whether the product is cleaned or uncleaned.
- Confirm the current price and delivery charge.
- Ask whether the photograph is a general product image.
When wholesale buying is suitable
Wholesale buying may be useful for restaurants, grocery shops, resellers and customers with regular demand. The discussion should be based on the total weight or agreed quantity—not only the number of packets.
Wholesale buyers should confirm the minimum quantity, available stock, product type, size, grade, packaging and future supply. If consistent quality is important, ask whether the same type or grade can normally be supplied again.
Compare the same product and weight
A 250-gram pack should be compared with another 250-gram pack. A 500-gram or 1-kilogram quotation should first be converted to the same weight basis. Also check whether packaging and delivery are included.
A lower displayed price may not mean a lower total cost. Compare the product, weight, quality description, packaging, delivery and payment terms together.

Why wholesale is not always the cheapest option

Confirm delivery and service area
Delivery availability depends on the seller’s service area, courier coverage, address and order quantity. Customers in Chattogram should provide their area or a clear landmark and confirm the delivery charge before accepting the order.
Customers outside the stated service area should confirm delivery possibility before making payment.
Communicate safely
Do not share passwords, OTPs, verification codes, full payment-card details or unnecessary identity documents through marketplace messages or WhatsApp. Keep a record of the final product, quantity, price, delivery charge and confirmation date.
